The queen mother is a beautiful woman. Her pure white teeth and cornea highlight her glowing dark skin below her gray hair. Her hair is drawn back about an inch from her hair line with a head-tie. She covers herself from her waist to her ankles with two yards of the cloth they call "dumas". She wraps two more yards of the same print over the skirt of her blouse, extending it to her knees. Her outfit is custom made. All outfits are made from scratch. Depending on the outfit, a tailor measures a person and makes an outfit to suit that person. The queen mother hangs approximately two yards of cloth, identifiable with Ewes on her right shoulder. She uses this wrap to cover her shoulders and her arms when the weather gets chilly as some mornings are, especially during the dry season. Her headgear is made from silk. On her feet, she wears sandals that look like thongs. They are dyed a deep red. They reveal the well oiled soles of her feet. Embedded in the folds of her neck are remnants of the perfumed talc that she has dabbed all over her body after she has taken her bath. Also around her neck is a pure gold necklace. It looks like gold nuggets threaded together. The necklace has a locket. The locket is a miniature version of the chief's seat. It neither looks like a chair nor a stool. Hers looks like upright slats with a base and a seat. Two more miniature chieftaincy seats dangle from the holes in her earlobes. In addition to the solid pure-gold bangle on her wrist, she wears a string of beads. These beads are small oblong shaped rocks. They are painted with different colours and designs, bored through and treaded together. The aroma of the perfumed talc precedes her where ever she goes. She walks with her hands clasped behind her back. She smiles often and talks with alacrity. Her speech is often delivered….
